Customer: Red Bull Soap Box Race

Location: Knebworth Park, Hertfordshire

Requirement: The 2004 Red Bull Soap Box Race saw 84 teams of daredevil drivers from all over the UK competing for the coveted title of soap box champion. The free event provided an unforgettable spectacle for the 50,000 enthusiastic spectators that flocked to Knebworth Park to cheer the racers on.

It was essential that the facilities required to cater for all these people matched the quality of the event's prestigious venue. Nick Fisher was the man charged with getting everything in place and running smoothly in time for the big day. The experienced site manager had worked with Portakabin Events at previous major events - including Scotland's famous T in the Park music festival - and knew the company could deliver the buildings and level of service required for the Red Bull event.

Solution: More than 270 individual mains-free toilet units, four toilet facilities for people with disabilities, and six all-steel toilet blocks, along with 18 buildings for administration staff, dressing rooms, police and medical personnel, were installed on site by Portakabin Events.

Portakabin carried out all site installation and maintained the facilities throughout the event. The big day was Sunday 8^th August, and by the 13^th Portakabin had efficiently cleared the site.
